Text: Ephesians 6: 1 – 2
Memorise: Proverbs 6:20 My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.

Fathers are very important in life, because they can help a lot in decision making and without them, they wouldn’t have been us. So we must know that they want the best for us, even when they are shouting at us as adult, chastising us, they still want our good, so we owe them the respect whether good or bad, they see far most times more than us because they have gone ahead of us in the road of life, they know many things even if non-educated, so we must listen to them always for every word they speak to you the children there is sense in it, for they speak from experience. Your father might be harsh, drunkard, wicked, uncaring or pagan but remember is your father, for without him there will be no you.

Proverbs 6:20-23
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, [and] tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life:(KJV)

You and your father might  have different point of view on issues but don’t sideline him, his desire for you might not be what you want, but listen to him carefully when he speaks and try to understand every word and you will discover his making sense. Am not telling you to leave your desire to follow his own but am telling you to consider and add his desires/counsels to live and follow your dreams. Take his words, advice, collect them all an add to what you know and your journey through life will be more eventful.

Don’t ever see your father as your enemy even when is against your desires but just keep on talking to him, show respect to him at all times and try and convince him you know what you are doing through your words and action but don’t fight him or quarrel just listen whenever he says for his words will guide you.

NOTE: Your Father is your father so show humility always when before them..

Action Point: Pray for wisdom to do the right thing at all times.
